Alastair Hammond is Chief Executive Officer of Rezolv Energy, a leading independent power producer in Central and South Eastern Europe. Rezolv is backed by two of the world’s leading infrastructure investors, Actis and Mubadala, and, under Alastair’s leadership, is building a multi-gigawatt portfolio of wind and solar assets designed to accelerate the region’s transition to clean, secure and affordable power.
Rezolv recently reached a major milestone with the commissioning of the 225 MW St. George solar park in Silistra, Bulgaria, one of the largest solar projects in the country. Built on the site of a former airport, St. George is a flagship example of large-scale land being repurposed for clean energy and is expected to generate around 313 GWh of electricity annually. The project also includes a 90 MW / 240 MWh battery energy storage system supported by a grant under the European Union’s NextGenerationEU programme, which enhances grid stability and enables more flexible use of renewable generation.
Beyond Bulgaria, Rezolv has a 2 GW portfolio of large-scale onshore wind and solar projects in construction or late-stage development in Romania. One of the company’s projects in Romania is Dama Solar which, with a capacity of 1,044MW, is expected to be the largest solar park in Europe once operational.
In parallel with bringing its portfolio onstream, Rezolv has signed seven pioneering corporate power purchase agreements with global industry leaders including T-Mobile, Ardagh Group, Bekaert and Etem Gestamp.
Alastair’s experience of evaluating and delivering large, complex projects spans more than 25 years. For the 15 years prior to the launch of Rezolv, he was responsible for the contracting, construction and operations of over 200 MW of wind and solar projects across Central and South Eastern Europe.
In a previous role as Managing Consultant in PA Consulting Group’s Strategy & Marketing practice, Alastair was responsible for evaluating financial viability, financing proposals and managing negotiations for a number of large UK Government Private Finance Initiative projects.
Alastair began his career as an Officer in the Royal Navy and holds a degree in Chemistry.
