Ana Mocanu

Ana Mocanu is the executive director of Funky Citizens, specializing as a researcher in countering disinformation and institutional transparency. Along with her team, she has conducted extensive research on the impact of disinformation on young people, perceptions of the West, the war in Ukraine, and vulnerable communities. She coordinated the organization's activities within electoral disinformation monitoring for over six rounds of elections in Romania and Moldova. As one of the coordinators for Funky Citizens' 2024-2025 elections campaign, Ana managed a national caravan focused on civic mobilization and media literacy with over 30 communities involved. Beyond her research contributions, she actively fosters community building by connecting local networks of NGOs, journalists, and young activists. These communities benefit from her mentorship and capacity-building initiatives aimed at enhancing media literacy, promoting informed civic participation, and driving impactful advocacy actions. Ana also serves as curator and coordinator of an exhibition exploring fake news and propaganda throughout Romania's history to the present day. This exhibition has reached over 30,000 visitors across Romania in the lead-up to the elections.
