Iva Petkova is an experienced professional with deep expertise in EU-backed
financial instruments for urban development in Bulgaria. She has more than 17 years
of experience in the evaluation and monitoring of Cohesion Policy projects as part of
Fund FLAG, a state-owned fund dedicated to supporting municipal investments.
Since 2011, she has been closely involved in the implementation of the JESSICA
Urban Development Fund for Sofia, and since 2018, with the Sustainable Cities
Fund, managing Urban Development Funds for Sofia and Southern Bulgaria under
the Operational Programme “Regions in Growth” 2014–2020, co-financed by the
ERDF.
Since 2018, she has served as Director of the “Urban Development Funds”
Department at the Fund for Sustainable Urban Development, a subsidiary of Fund
FLAG focused on financing urban regeneration projects. In April 2024, she was also
appointed Director of the “Development, Green Financing and Communications”
Department at Fund FLAG, where she leads the development of financial instruments
and products supporting the clean energy transition and energy efficiency
investments.
Iva Petkova holds a Master's Degree in European Studies and a second major in
International Relations, both graduated at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, as
well as multiple specializations in the spheres of European Funds, state aid, public
procurement, green and sustainable financing. Alongside her professional work, she
is also a part-time lecturer on financial instruments under EU shared management in
the Master’s Program “Economics and Management of Public Resources” at Sofia
University.
