Prof. Rumen Stamatov, DSc, is a distinguished Bulgarian psychologist, scholar, and university lecturer with long-standing contributions in the fields of developmental, educational, and positive psychology. He is among the leading specialists in Bulgaria on issues of personal development, psychological well-being, positive education, and psychological counselling.
Throughout his academic career, Prof. Stamatov has been associated with both Plovdiv University "Paisii Hilendarski" and Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar", where he currently serves as a Professor of Psychology and is an active participant in the development of innovative educational and psychological programmes.
His research interests focus on positive psychology, moral development, self-control, emotional intelligence, developmental psychology, and psychological well-being. He is the author of over 20 books and dozens of scientific publications dedicated to personality development, character strengths, creativity, and psychological resilience.
In recent years, Prof. Stamatov has been one of the primary driving forces behind the concept of positive education in Bulgaria. He leads the Centre for Positive Education at Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar", which develops programmes aimed at improving psychological well-being and the school environment. Under his leadership, innovative projects are being implemented in Varna to foster a positive school culture and develop students' social and emotional skills.
