Tahir Kapetanovic is VP International and Head of System Operation at Austrian Power Grid AG where he
works since 2011. In ENTSO-E he is Vice-Chair of ENTSO-E Board, coordinates cooperation with EU DSO
Entity, previously chaired System Operations Committee, managed regional coordination and
operational network codes. Before APG he was Director Electricity at Austrian regulator E-Control for 10
years, shaping European market through EU regulators’ organizations and EC platforms. Before E-
Control he worked a decade in infocom, engineering and finance institutions of private sector,
commencing career with academic research end of 1980-ies. With over 35 years of experience in energy
systems, markets and regulation, Tahir holds Dipl.-Ing., MSc and PhD in power systems from universities
in Zagreb and Vienna and executive MBA from universities in Minnesota and Vienna. He is licensed
system operator of Austrian transmission grid and trader on EPEX Spot and EEX.
